Alongside some quarters built for the foreman, chargeman and clerical staff, on the eastern side of the railway line, the Eastern Bengal State Railway built the Bell Institute in 1920. Here various arrangements were made for recreational activity.
Bell Institute was made for the English and Anglo Indian people. In the evening, Railway Officers, Supervisors along with their families visited the Bell Institute for leisure. It had and still has a ball room with wooden floor, which is used as a Badminton court now.

- A big hall with a stage attached.
- A corridor in front of Institute.
- A Corridor in Back of Institute
- A Corridor in Side of Institute
- Separate Washrooms for Male and Female.
- Changing Room.

RAILWAY INSTITUTE BOOKING POLICY
1. The Railway Administration reserves the right to approve or decline any
booking at its discretion, as required.
2. The Earnest money deposit of Rs.500 will be required to ensure the
applicant’s genuineness.
3. No refund of earnest money will be provided, Applicants are advised to apply
accordingly.
4. In case of any damage to the property of the Railway Institute, a deduction
from the Caution Money will be made based on the extent of the damage.
